Custom Rug Information

Ordering a Custom Rug? Here are a few things you should know...

Thanks for your interest in Airloom. Below you will find some information that is useful to know when considering one of our custom rugs.

Which ranges can I customise?

The ranges that you can customise include Robust, Natura, Inside Out, Local Inside Out and Sisal & Seagrass. These items can be customised by size and finishing option. These ranges are available for our Sample Service. This service  is available here

Can I return a customised item?

Unfortunately not, in line with the Consumer Protection Act, customised items are not illegible for a refund unless defective.

Is the size going to be accurate?

Small variations in size can occur. The reason for this is that the products available for customising are all flat-woven products. This type of construction means that the products are held together under tension between the warp and the weft, and are, like many textiles, are pliable and able to be stretched. When the product is finished, a further tension is applied to the product. All these factors means that finishing to an exact measurement can be difficult and small variations should be allowed for.

What is the difference between the overlocking and binding options?

Overlocking refers to the thin stitch applied using very similar yarn to the one used to make the product. We apply a thin polyester tape to seal the carpet edges, which is applied in the same motion as the overlocking stitch in sideways ‘U’ shape. Overlocking is the most cost effective finish.

Binding is either a Cotton or Outdoor-suitable ‘tape’ that is applied to the edge of the carpet. It is stitched on encasing the edge of the carpet in a sideways ‘U’ shape. Binding is generally more expensive than overlocking.

How long will it take?

We allow 10-14 working days to complete and dispatch a custom rug.
